Legends Invitational
Back by popular demand, this event will be a two-person team event and is competitor controlled. That means, you will fish together with your partner in the same beat (you can even net each other’s fish!) for two sessions and then you’ll monitor another team during their two sessions. Team registration is going to be limited to just ten invited teams for the day, so a total of twenty people. This event will use Casting for Hope Retreat Center fishing rules–so strike indicators, splitshot, any flies you want to use. It’s all fair game as long as the hooks are barbless!
During each fishing session, each angler will be allowed to score 4 fish. To score or not to score a fish will be made at the time of releasing the fish, so part of the strategy is determining if you should count that fish at the point of measuring it. A 9th fish for the team will be allowed to be scored (if) both anglers have scored their four fish. So again, strategy will be important! Scoring will be based purely on fish length in centimeters, with final score based on total centimeters tallied per team.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded for top scoring teams and top three fundraising individuals. There will also be a “big fish” prize to the angler who records the biggest fish of the day.
All competitors will be treated to gourmet lunch and dinner with wine and spirits pairings.
April Flagship Gold Level Tournament
From 2012 to 2024, Casting for Hope hosted the only Gold Level competition on the east coast, attracting top anglers from all over the country to our Retreat Center and neighboring venues. Bringing together the fly-fishing community for a worthy cause, this event raised over $400,000 for our mission of assisting women in NC faced with a gynecological cancer. Due to the effects of Hurricane Helene, this event has been indefinitely postponed as surrounding river systems that served as host venues recover from the damages faced in the catastrophic storm.
US Youth National Championships
On multiple occasions, Casting for Hope was proud to co-host the US Youth Fly Fishing Team’s National Championship event. Many of these anglers have gone on to medal in the Youth Fly Fishing World Championships. Together, these young people and their families and supporters helped raised $50,000 for Casting for Hope.
