We caught more than fish–we caught your Hope. Words feel inadequate to express my gratitude for you! Any moments that I feel sad, I close my eyes and imagine the warm sun, the sound of the river, your laughter, and your smiles, warm hugs, and yummy food.  And especially Taylor’s courage.”

    Taylor Sharp

    CO-FOUNDER & BOARD CHAIR

Taylor serves as Casting for Hope’s longest standing volunteer. While in high school, he co-founded the organization in memory of his mother, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010. From grant writing to event planning to managing the board and support staff, he guides the organization’s work to this day. He was recently inducted into the Southern Fly Fishing Hall of Fame for his Humanitarian Impact within the sport.

  • Shannon Byrne

DIRECTOR OF PATIENT SERVICES & RETREAT PROGRAMMING

Shannon enthusiastically plans and leads our Survivor and Caregiver retreats and assists patients with daily needs as they navigate a cancer journey. As an ovarian cancer survivor and an alumnus of our financial and emotional assistance programming herself, Shannon is uniquely qualified for this leadership role and has been a wonderful addition to the Casting for Hope team.

  • Erica Baxter

    EXECUTIVE TEAM ADMINISTRATOR

Erica oversees our Morganton office and assists with all operations of the organization, from fundraising to compliance to donor relations. Erica is also a certified yoga instructor in Morganton and she generously shares that expertise with patients at our retreats during guided meditation and yoga sessions throughout the weekend.

“You can focus on your problems, or you can focus on your purpose.”

Amy Sharp (1959-2010)

There’s hope out there – You just have to ask.

They’re in it hook, line and sinker to help women who are having to battle cancer.”
